Nathan M. Thornhill

Nathan M. Thornhill builds tools that catch what AI invents. He created CiteStamp, which checks an AI-written bibliography against the published record and shows which sources were made up, and he founded the Institute for Complexity Science and Advanced Computing, which publishes his research and charges authors nothing.

The work came out of healthcare rather than philosophy. He spent years as a nursing assistant, then in Long Term Care Administration and ICU admissions, where families asked him whether their loved one was still in there. He never had a good answer for them. The same question now applies to AI systems, and that is where most of the research sits: his current study compares how rats, monkeys, and AI models commit to a decision.

He is the author of Foundations of the Existence Threshold, holds four provisional patents, and works from Fort Wayne, Indiana, without a university or a funding body.
